Some of the things we will learn this year include: MATH -Addition, subtraction, place value,money, patterns, time, measurement,two-digit computations, fractions, three digit computations, geometry and multiplication. The second grade goal for our district is to have all second graders memorize addition math facts through sums of 18. SCIENCE -Plants, animals, weather,conservation, fossils, natural resources, ecosystems, energy systems, dinosaurs, sounds, senses, electricity, experimenting, light, lift science, matter, health units, drugs, alcohol, communicable disease and food groups. SOCIAL STUDIES -Our world, maps, cities,mountains, rivers, plains, deserts, citizenship, stories of our world, Chinese Unit, and Egyptian Unit. We also do a Weekly Reader. PENMANSHIP - All manuscript letters, poems, etc. Cursive writing will begin in third grade. LITERATURE - Literature stories, daily oralreading, guided reading groups, writing center, spelling center, computer center, phonics, writer's journals, workbooks, and grammar books. We will go to the library once a week and the Bookmobile once a month. Troll book orders are sent home monthly. Please make checks out to "Troll." CREATIVE WRITING -One of our N.C.A.goals is to improve our writing skills. We will be writing stories every day to help improve our writing.
